I am a Prospective: Student Parent

The English program has two primary objectives. The first is to cultivate students’ writing ability in order to support a well-developed argument with clarity and precision. The second is to share the beauty and necessity of literature as it allows students to attain an awareness of the complexities of our world. From a wide-ranging list of time periods and cultures, students will explore a variety of human emotions, ideas, and perspectives, and, ultimately, acquire a better understanding of the human condition. Students will be asked to read critically, to think for themselves, and be able to write purposefully.

Graduation Requirement: 4 credits of English which must include American Literature and a year of senior English classes.  It is required that every student be enrolled in an English class at all times.  Honors or AP level classes are available during all four years.

Course of Study:
  • Freshmen English
  • Sophomore English
  • American Literature
  • Senior Electives, Senior English or AP English
